Why Microtraining?

In the quest for inspiration for new activities, and installation mechanic of sustainable energy within the company wants to discuss the following subjects:

  • Increasing the involvement of the employees with sustainable energy
  • Exchanging information about new sustainable technologies
  • Exchanging information with other entrepreneurs in the sector

Sessions about selling sustainable energy

To increase the involvement of the employees, the subject of sustainable energy is discussed. Eight to twelve employees, including both draftsmen and installation mechanics, take part in the sessions.

  • Introductory session: What is the meaning of sustainable energy for our company?
  • Session subject: Why is sustainable energy important?
  • Session subject: Good customer contact: Know yourself!
  • Session subject: Frequently asked questions
  • Session subject: How can we service our customers better?
  • Closing session: Evaluation and ideas for follow-up sessions

All kinds of active approaches are tried. During the introductory session, the participants draw up a mind map together, which is put on the meeting room wall. The second session includes an exercise in interpreting the core figures of sustainable energy. During the third session, a test is conducted about types of customers and how to respond to them. An inventory is made of ‘Frequently asked questions’, which later is put on the website. A role play helps identify possible reactions by customers. The closing session looks back at the previous sessions. What have we learned? In addition, a brainstorm session is conducted about subjects for new sessions.

Experiences

It turns out that Microtraining is a successful way to create awareness. The participants are enthusiastic about the systematic and active approach. The introductory session is organized on a Friday afternoon at 4 PM. However, it becomes clear that many find it hard to focus their attention at that hour, which is why the remaining sessions are organized at 7.30 AM, before work begins.

The atmosphere during the sessions is relaxed. The participants compliment each other and at times are surprised by the ‘mistakes’ of their colleagues. For the Microtrainer, organizing the sessions is a challenge. He becomes increasingly creative in designing activating exercises. The participants suggest a lot of new ideas for the following sessions.
